GALEX 53 Juried Exhibition

GALEX 53 is a national juried competition and exhibition celebrating its 53rd year. Open to all artists residing in the United States working in all mediums. The juror is Harlow B. Blum, Emeritus Professor of Art at Monmouth College, who will award over $2,500 in prizes and select over 50 works for the exhibition.

Eligibility: All work must have been completed within the last three years and must not have been previously shown in Galesburg Civic Art Center galleries or gift shop. Art must be original work of the artist. Work is not to exceed 100 pounds or be unstable. Two-dimensional work may not exceed five feet and must be wired and ready to hang. Plexiglas is preferred for framed work. No work will be suspended from the ceiling. One entry (up to four works) per artist.

Entry fee is $25 for non-members or $20 for current members of the Galesburg Civic Art Center. Submissions require 1-4 images. Important dates: Entry deadline January 26, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MST; notifications sent February 12; artwork due by 3:00 p.m. March 2; opening reception March 8, 5-7 p.m.; exhibition closes April 6; artwork must be picked up or will be shipped back to artist April 8-9. Awards include: Blick Art Materials Purchase Award ($1,000), Lonnie Eugene Stewart Award of Excellence ($600), Merit Award ($400), Medallion Award ($300), Kent Leasure Memorial Fine Print Award ($100), and Robert Reed Memorial Sculpture Award ($150).
