About This Call

The Folk & Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Project (FTAP) Grant Program provides $10,000 grants to support a structured learning opportunity between an Apprentice artist and one or more Mentor Artists. Applicants must be New Jersey residents and must be practicing a folk and traditional art form. By supporting artists' fees, travel, and supplies, these grants allow intermediate-level artists to significantly advance their skills and cultural knowledge in a specific folk and traditional art form.

Strong apprenticeships encourage communities to continue passing on their valued traditions in traditional settings, contributing to the ongoing vitality of their community's folk and traditional arts. Work sample requirements include a minimum of 4 and maximum of 20 total samples, which may consist of up to 10 images, 10 audio files, and 10 video files.

This is a Step 2 application open only to approved applicants who previously submitted the Step 1 application and were subsequently invited to apply. For accessibility services related to filing an application, contact Accessibility Coordinator Lindsay Dandeo at 609-984-7020 (NJ Relay 711) or [email protected].
