About This Call
The FWS 48th Annual Exhibition is open to Florida Watercolor Society members in good standing. Members may submit one or two digital images for jurying. The entry fee is $25 for one entry and $30 for two entries, with a non-refundable media fee of $5 for a second entry. Entries must be submitted via CaFE between April 6th and June 8th, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. New members must join by June 1st, 2019, and existing members' dues ($40) must be current.
Eligible artwork is limited to water-soluble water media on surfaces specifically for watermedia, including paper, clay-coated, or synthetic surfaces, and must be framed under Plexiglas. Paintings must be original compositions created after January 1, 2017, and not previously shown in any FWS exhibition. Work painted in a class or workshop with instructor assistance is not eligible. Collage is acceptable only if created from paper painted by the artist in water media. Photographs, reproductions, digital media, diptychs, and triptychs are not permitted. Photo reference material must have been taken by the artist; purchased images, stock photos, and copyrighted images are not allowed. Vintage family heirloom photos may be used as reference if the artist possesses the original and can identify persons and their relation to the family.
Judge Carol Carter will select 100 pieces plus five alternates. Awards total over $20,000, including the Susan Lattner Lloyd Gold Award. The exhibition runs September 10th through November 8th, 2019 at Leu Gardens in Orlando, Florida. Framing must be smooth with flat or rounded profiles in metal or wood (black, white, gold, or silver only), with a maximum width of three inches. Framed size must not exceed 42 inches on the longest side. All work must be under Plexiglas with white mats only. Paintings may be priced for sale or marked NFS with an insurance value declared. FWS retains a 20% donation from sales for the Friends of Leu Gardens. Artists are responsible for insurance; neither Leu Gardens, FWS, nor its directors will be responsible for loss or damage.
