About This Call
The Florida Watercolor Society invites eligible members in good standing to submit digital images for the 47th Annual Exhibition. Entries are accepted from April 7th through June 2nd, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT via CaFE. Members may submit one or two digital images for jurying. The entry fee is $25 for one entry and $30 for two entries, paid by credit card only. Members must have paid their 2018 dues by May 26th, 2018 to be eligible.
Eligible artwork is limited to water-soluble water media on surfaces specifically for watermedia (paper, clay-coated, or synthetic surfaces; illustration or paper-mounted board; flat, unstretched watercolor canvas). All paintings must be framed under Plexiglas and created after January 1, 2016. Artwork must be original compositions not previously shown in any FWS Online or Annual Exhibition, and not copied from published images or created in a class with instructor direction. Collage is acceptable if created from paper painted by the artist in water media. Diptychs and triptychs are not eligible. Frames must be smooth with flat or rounded profiles (metal or wood, black or white only), with maximum width of three inches. Overall framed size must not exceed 55" wide; if vertical, may be 72" high and no more than 55" wide.
Juror Thomas Schaller, AWS will select 100 pieces to show, plus five alternates. The exhibition runs September 7th through October 26th, 2018 at ArtCenter Manatee, 209 9th St. W, Bradenton, FL 34205. Awards total approximately $15,000, including the Susan Lattner Lloyd Gold Award and other monetary and merchandise awards. An Artists' Reception is scheduled for September 28th, and the Awards Gala Dinner for September 29th at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota. A 32.5% sales commission applies to ArtCenter Manatee. Insurance is the responsibility of the individual artist.
