About This Call
The Florida Watercolor Society presents the 46th Annual Exhibition, running September 9th through November 17th, 2017 at the Coral Springs Museum of Art, 2855 Coral Springs Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33065. The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm, and closed Sundays and Mondays. Admission fees apply; museum members are free.
Eligible Florida Watercolor Society members in good standing with dues paid by March 31, 2017 may submit one or two digital images for jurying. Eligible artwork is limited to water soluble water media (no water soluble oil products or pastels) on surfaces specifically for watermedia such as paper, clay-coated surfaces (Aquabord), or synthetic surfaces (Yupo, Tyvek). Paintings must be framed under Plexiglas (acrylic). Nudes are allowed, but no eroticism or apparent genitalia will be displayed. Artwork must be original compositions created after January 1, 2015, and not previously shown in any FWS Online or Annual Exhibition. Collage is acceptable if created from paper painted by the artist in water media. Photographs, reproductions, or digital media are not permitted. Diptychs and triptychs are not eligible.
Juror Iain Stewart, NWS, AWS will select 100 pieces to display, plus five alternates. Awards total approximately $15,000, including the Susan Lattner Lloyd Gold Award and other monetary and merchandise awards. A non-monetary People's Choice Award will be given at the close of the exhibition. Entry deadline is June 3rd, 2017 at 11:59 pm Mountain Time. Entry fee is $25 for one entry or $30 for two entries, paid through CaFE. Entries are accepted April 7th through June 3rd, 2017. Only one painting per artist may be accepted for the exhibition. Framed size must not exceed 55 inches in either direction. Frames must be smooth with flat or rounded profiles in metal or wood (black or white acceptable), with maximum frame width of three inches. All work must be under Plexiglas. Mats, if used, must be white only with no colored liners. There is a 30% sales commission to the Coral Springs Museum of Art. Artists may opt to participate in a traveling show to two additional venues or make their work available for purchase awards.
