About This Call

Fort Worth Public Art (FWPA), a City of Fort Worth program managed by the Arts Council of Fort Worth, maintains a Pre-Qualified List of Public Artists to streamline the selection process for upcoming public art commissions. The list is used to identify artists for future public art projects including artwork for street and transportation improvements, parks, recreation and community center improvements, libraries, fire stations, and other municipal facilities. A Capital Improvement Program passed in 2014 allows for the implementation of new public art projects with budgets ranging from $30,000 to $100,000.

The North Texas-Based Emerging Public Artists category is open to artists age 18 and older who reside in the Fort Worth metropolitan area (Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, Collin, Rockwall, Hunt, Kaufman, Ellis, Johnson, Hood, Parker, Wise, or Somerville County) and work in any media. Previous public art or design team experience is not required. Artists should demonstrate understanding of appropriate materials and capacity to work collaboratively with other artists, designers, architects, engineers, fabricators, city officials and staff, and express willingness to accept input from the community. Placement on the Pre-Qualified List does not guarantee a commission.

Submissions must include an artist statement (2000 character limit), letter of interest (2000 character limit), current resume, ten images of completed artwork with title, medium, dimensions, date completed, and project budget/location/commissioning agency (if applicable), and three references. A panel composed of art and design professionals, including two members of the Fort Worth Art Commission, will review all submitted materials. Results will be announced May 12, 2015. Contact [email protected] with questions.
