Future Tellers

Future Tellers is a juried exhibition seeking art that responds to contemporary change and uncertainty. The call asks: Where will politics, science, technology, the human condition, and the making of art be tomorrow? Artists are invited to submit diverse points of view exploring whether they see a world of fear or hope, and whether their work tells a story about the future.

Located in Portland's Pearl District, Gallery 114 is one of the oldest artist collectives in the Northwest. The gallery's mantra is "expect the unexpected," and this June 2017 annual juried exhibit turns the gallery over to innovative artists who break barriers, test boundaries, and explore their personal terra incognita. All 2 and 3 dimensional media are welcome. Works must be original, not exceed 7 feet in height and 5 feet in width, and individual pieces should not exceed $5,000 in price.

Entry fee is $30 for up to three submissions. Accepted works must arrive by 5 PM on May 27, 2017, and must be installation-ready with appropriate hanging hardware, installation instructions, and clearly labeled with the artist's name and work title. The opening reception is Thursday, June 1, 2017, 6-9 PM, with the show running through July 1, 2017. Gallery 114 will insure works on site for the indicated insurance value and may photograph work for the gallery website, press releases, and social media. Local artists must pick up work by 6 PM on July 1, 2017; work with prepaid return shipping will be returned within two weeks of the exhibition close. Notification of acceptance is May 5, 2017.
