Functional Fall: A Seat At The Table

Clay Art Center announces a call for entry to "Functional Fall: A Seat At The Table," guest juried by Jessica Putnam Phillips. This First Annual Functional Fall Exhibition brings everyone to the table through ceramics that serve and encourages submissions from artists at all stages of their careers. The exhibition of functional ceramics focuses on the concept of "service" in tableware, encompassing a wide range of ceramic styles from evocative shapes made to serve functionally to conceptual and narrative work that explores the ideas of serving beyond the traditional role as a vessel for a meal.

Submission Period: February 1st – May 21st, 2023. Exhibition dates: September 1st – October 16th, 2023. Juror prizes: $300 and $100. Entry fee: $25. Artists must submit 1-3 artworks with up to 3 images total. Each work must include title, medium, dimensions, price/value, year completed, primary discipline, and description (300 character limit). Artist statement required (up to 1000 characters, without artist name).

Eligibility: US-based artists, 18 years or older. Primary medium must be ceramic/clay (at least 85% where other media are utilized). Works must be available and for sale at time of exhibition and cannot be listed elsewhere for sale during the exhibition. Gallery commission is 40% of selling price. Work must stay in gallery until exhibition ends. Adjudication: May 22nd – June 2nd, 2023. Notification by June 10th, 2023. Work delivery: August 7th – 11th, 2023. Work returned by end of October 2023.
