Functional Art: The Wine Country Home

The Larson Gallery, located on the campus of Yakima Valley Community College in Yakima, Washington, invites submissions for a national juried exhibition. The gallery, established in 1949, is the largest and oldest continually operating non-commercial gallery in Central Washington.

This exhibition focuses on functional art—aesthetic objects that serve a utilitarian purpose such as clothing, textiles, jewelry, tableware, tools, fixtures, and furniture. The theme "The Wine Country Home" serves as a broad organizational concept; submissions need not reflect wine country specifically. Eligible media includes acrylic, ceramic, fiber, glass, metal, mixed media, non-traditional materials, oil, photography, print, and wood. Other media types may be considered with preapproval from the gallery.

Open to all artists residing in the United States. Only original artwork executed by the artist within the last two years and not previously shown in a Larson Gallery exhibit will be considered. Submissions must be made via the CaFE system; mail-in entries will not be accepted. Entry fee is $20 per entry, with up to 4 entries permitted. Additional images cost $20 per media fee. Submit 1-4 images. Submission deadline: January 25, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Notifications will be sent February 7, 2014. Accepted work must arrive by February 28, 2014. Exhibition dates: March 7 - April 19, 2014 (closed March 24-28 for spring break). Reception: March 7, 2014, 5-7pm. All work must be picked up no later than April 25, 2014. Contact: [email protected].
