From the Earth

From the Earth is a ceramic art exhibition seeking artwork that utilizes clay in any context or form. The exhibition welcomes artwork that embraces the traditions of clay making, represents contemporary interpretations of the medium, and pushes the boundaries of this essential material.

The exhibition will be juried anonymously by Jared Tso, 2024 Western New Mexico University Visiting Artist. Exhibition dates are July 4–28, 2024 at Light Art Space, 209 West Broadway, Silver City, NM 88061. A public reception will be held July 5, 5–7 pm. The exhibition coincides with the Silver City CLAY Festival (July 22–28).

Eligibility: Open to artists 18 years and older, residing in the United States and internationally. One entry consists of 3 ceramic pieces; artists may submit a maximum of 10 pieces total. Entry fee: $35 for three pieces, $5 for each additional piece. Full-time student discount: $20 (use code Student). Work samples: 3–10 images and 0–3 videos (13 total samples maximum). All works must have been completed in the last year and entries shown in previous CLAY Festival juried exhibitions will not be accepted. Free-standing pieces must be no taller or wider than 24", no heavier than 20 lbs, and pedestal ready. Wall pieces must be no taller or wider than 24", no heavier than 10 lbs, and ready to be securely hung. All accepted entries must be marked with artist name, title, and retail price, and must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition and be for sale. Light Art Space retains 50 percent of the total sale price. Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance of accepted work to and from the exhibition. Accepted works must be received by June 22, 2024. Notification of accepted entries: June 7, 2024. Awards: First Place, Second Place, Third Place, Honorable Mention, and Best Student Work.
