From Light to Dark

"From Light to Dark" is an all-media juried exhibition focusing on the monochromatic with artworks in black and white and the grey between. All interpretations of the theme are encouraged. All styles, techniques, and media are welcome.

The exhibition will be held at Art Saint Louis Gallery in downtown St. Louis, MO, located at 1223 Pine Street. Exhibition dates are April 18-May 21, 2015, with a free opening reception on Saturday, April 18, 2015, 6-8 p.m. Jurors are Katherine Nelson, nationally exhibited artist and educator, and David R. Hanlon, artist, author, and Professor at St. Louis Community College Meramec.

Eligibility is open to artists 21 years of age and older living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius. Artwork must be completed between 2012-2015. Artists may submit up to 2 original artworks in all media, styles, and techniques. Entry fee is $30 for non-members and $20 for Art Saint Louis members. Five non-cash Awards of Excellence will be selected by the jurors. Award recipients will be eligible for the "Honor Awards 2016" exhibit (Summer 2016).

Submissions must include 1-4 images (JPEG format, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72 ppi, 5MB maximum) and up to 2 videos. Size limits: final installation size not to exceed 6' wide or 7' high. 2-D works must be framed or pre-approved presentation. 3-D works must sit on a pedestal or platform elevated minimum 24" off the floor. All artworks must have a sale price or be marked Not for Sale. Sales are through Art Saint Louis with 30% commission to ASL and 70% to artist. Artworks are insured at 50% of retail value during exhibit. All exhibiting artists are required to volunteer 4 hours per artwork selected or contribute food/goods valued at $20 per artwork or buy out volunteer time at $5/hour. Artworks must be hand-delivered March 27-28, 2015, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and picked up May 22-23, 2015, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
