From Core to Surface

This exhibition showcases the broad range of forging from sculptural and functional perspectives or a combination of the two. The mission seeks to highlight work that demonstrates a keen sense of design and technique, with evaluation and acceptance strongly influenced by the harmony between design and execution.

Artists may submit up to three pieces. Submissions must contain and be inspired by some aspect of the forging process and embody aspects of the craft. Pieces must be forged or have forged elements, must not weigh more than 100 pounds, and must be able to fit through a 32" door. Each piece requires at least one image, with the option to upload up to three images total per piece (including optional detail shots). An artist statement no longer than 1000 words is required.

The exhibition runs September 5-30 at Center for Metal Arts and will be both in-person and virtual on the organization's website. Jurors are Lindsay Gates, Maegan Crowley, and Zack Noble. The entry fee is $15.00. Accepted work must be received by August 8th, 2022. Shipping and transportation are the responsibility of the artist.
