About This Call

Bainbridge Arts and Crafts announces its third annual juried call for the Fresh Talent Exhibition 2023, open to artists who have not previously shown with the organization. Guest juror is ceramicist Richard Notkin, a full-time studio artist based in Vaughn, Washington. Notkin received a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute (1970) and an MFA from the University of California, Davis (1973). His ceramic works have been exhibited internationally and are held in over 75 public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institution, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park in Japan. He has received three Artist Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, grants from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, and was elected a Fellow of the American Craft Council in 2008.

BAC is a nonprofit gallery serving Kitsap County, celebrating its 75th year. The organization supports over 200 Northwest artists and serves approximately 10,000 youth, adults, and seniors annually through free programs. The exhibition runs October 6–29, 2023, with an artist's reception on Friday, October 6, from 6–8 pm.

Eligibility is open to visual artists, emerging and established, residing in Washington or Oregon. Accepted mediums include painting, sculpture, glass, photography, mixed media, fiber, and ceramics. Entry fee is $20. Applicants may submit 1–3 images in .jpg format, each including title, medium(s), size, year of completion, and retail price. All works must be for sale and are subject to a 50% gallery sales commission if sold. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs, including return shipping of unsold work. Entry deadline: July 28, 2023. Artists will be notified by August 18, 2023. Artwork must be received by September 8, 2023. Unsold artwork pickup deadline: November 3, 2023.
