Fresh Squeezed 9: Emerging Artists in Florida

The Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg, FL invites emerging artists currently residing in Florida to submit entries for the ninth annual Fresh Squeezed: Emerging Artists in Florida exhibition, held April 12 – June 26, 2025. The Morean Galleries will be divided into six spaces, giving each selected artist essentially a solo exhibition. Works in any medium are accepted, and community-oriented, site-specific installations are encouraged. Each artist will have the opportunity to participate in a gallery talk during the exhibition to interact with potential collectors. Morean staff will work closely with selected artists to assist with photographing, pricing, and marketing their work.

Eligibility is open to emerging artists age 18 or older who are current Florida residents. The Morean defines an emerging artist as one who has never had a solo show in Florida (a solo show constitutes an exhibition in a gallery, arts center, or museum of at least three weeks with an opening reception; solo BFA or MFA shows at colleges or universities are acceptable). All work must be original, completed within the last two years, and not previously exhibited at the Morean. There is no size limitation, but work must be reasonably adaptable to the galleries. Submission deadline is November 10, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Entry fee is $20. Accepted artists will be notified December 12, 2024. Work is due by April 1, 2025. The opening reception is April 12, 2025, 5-8pm.

Work will be insured for the duration of the exhibition while on site at the Morean. The Morean retains a 40% commission on all works sold during the exhibition, with artists paid within 30 days of the close. Unsold works originally shipped to the Morean will be shipped back to the artist at the Morean's expense. No work accepted for exhibition may be withdrawn before the close.
