Fresh Ideas 2025

The Visual Art League (VAL) of Lewisville, Texas announces Fresh Ideas 2025, a juried art exhibition and sale held at the Lewisville Grand Theater Main Art Gallery. The exhibition runs August 16 - September 13, 2025. This annual premier juried exhibition is open to all visual artists 18 years and older who reside in Texas. Artists may submit up to 3 pieces for consideration. Entry fees are $55 for non-members and $40 for VAL members.

Accepted mediums include oil, watercolor, acrylics, pastel, mixed media, collage, altered books, assemblage, drawings, printmaking, ceramics, glass, textiles, fiber, encaustic, sculpture, and photography (film, digital, altered processes, photographic montage). Digital compositions using AI Image Generator Software are not allowed. Original artworks must have been created in the last 2 years and must not have been previously shown in any VAL exhibits. The gallery is family-friendly, so no explicit nudity, confrontational political content, or disrespectful religious images are allowed. No collaborative artworks, installation, or video artworks are permitted.

Awards include 1st Place ($1,000 and a solo show), 2nd Place ($500), 3rd Place ($250), six Honorable Mentions ($100 each), and a People's Choice Award ($100). The juror is Du Chau, a Dallas-based artist with a Master of Fine Arts from Alfred University. Important dates: Entry deadline is July 29, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT; artist notification is August 2-3; load-in is Monday, August 11; opening reception is Saturday, August 16, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.; artwork pickup is Monday, September 15. Accepted artwork must be delivered to 100 North Charles Street, Lewisville, TX by 5:00 p.m. on August 11, 2025. All accepted works must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show.
