Fresh Ideas 2024

The Visual Art League (VAL) of Lewisville, Texas announces Fresh Ideas 2024, a juried art exhibition and sale held at the Lewisville Grand Theater Main Art Gallery from September 21 - October 19, 2024. The exhibition is open to all visual artists 18 years and older who reside in Texas. Entry fee is $55 for non-members and $40 for VAL members, with a maximum of 3 pieces per artist.

Accepted mediums include oil, watercolor, acrylics, pastel, mixed media, collage, altered books, assemblage, drawings, prints, ceramics, glass, textiles, fiber, encaustic, sculpture, and photography (film, digital, altered processes, photographic montage). Digital compositions using AI Image Generator Software are not allowed. Original artworks must have been created in the last 2 years and must not have been previously shown in any VAL exhibits. No collaborative artworks or explicit nudity, confrontationally political, or disrespectful religious images are permitted. Maximum size for hung work is 60x60 inches including frame. Juror is Amy Werntz, a figurative realist painter from Dallas.

Awards include: 1st Place - $1,000 and a solo show in summer of the following year; 2nd Place - $500; 3rd Place - $250; Six Honorable Mentions at $100 each; and People's Choice Award - $100. Artist notification is September 7-8. Accepted artwork must be hand-delivered to the Lewisville Grand Theater on Monday, September 16, 2024 by 5:00 pm. Shipped artworks cannot be accepted. Opening reception is Saturday, September 21, 2024. Artwork pickup is Monday, October 21, 2024. Artists who are accepted must sit a 2-hour gallery shift during the exhibit, with substitutions available for artists outside the immediate area.
