Fresh Ideas 2023

The Visual Art League (VAL) of Lewisville, Texas announces Fresh Ideas 2023, a juried art exhibition and sale held at the Lewisville Grand Theater Main Art Gallery from July 15 to August 19, 2023. The exhibition is open to all visual artists 18 years and older who reside in Texas. Entry fees are $55 for non-members and $40 for VAL members, with a maximum of three pieces per artist. Artists may submit up to three JPEG images for consideration via CaFE.

Accepted mediums include oil, watercolor, acrylics, pastel, mixed media, collage, altered books, assemblage, drawings, prints, ceramics, glass, textiles, fiber, encaustic, sculpture, and photography (film, digital, altered processes, photographic montage). Digital compositions using AI Image Generator Software are not allowed. Original artwork must have been created in the last two years and not previously shown in any VAL exhibits. The gallery is family-friendly, so no explicit nudity, confrontationally political, or disrespectful religious images are allowed. Maximum size for hung artwork is 60x60 inches including frame. 3D artwork must fit on a 20x14 inch pedestal or be free-standing or safely hung with wire.

Artist notification occurs July 1-2, 2023. Accepted artwork must be hand-delivered to the Lewisville Grand Theater (100 North Charles Street, Lewisville, TX) by 5:00 p.m. on July 10, 2023. Shipped artworks cannot be accepted. Artwork pickup is August 21, 2023. Awards include 1st Place ($1,000 and a solo show), 2nd Place ($500), 3rd Place ($250), six Honorable Mentions ($100 each), and a People's Choice Award ($100). The juror is Bonny Leibowitz. All accepted works must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show, and accepted artists are required to sit the gallery for a half day during the exhibition.
