Fresh Ideas 2022

The Visual Art League (VAL) of Lewisville, Texas announces Fresh Ideas 2022, a juried art exhibition and sale held at the Lewisville Grand Theater Main Art Gallery. The exhibition runs July 16 - August 13, 2022. The show is open to all visual artists 18 years and older who reside in Texas. Entry fee is $75 for non-members (which includes one year's VAL membership) or $40 for VAL members, for a maximum of three pieces.

Accepted mediums include oil, watercolor, acrylics, pastel, mixed media, collage, altered books, assemblage, drawings, prints, photography (film, digital, altered processes, photographic montage), ceramics, glass, textiles, fiber, encaustic, and sculpture. Original artwork must have been created in the last two years and not previously shown in any VAL exhibits. Maximum size for hung artwork is 60x60 inches including frame. The gallery is family-friendly, so no explicit nudity, confrontationally political, or disrespectful religious images are allowed.

Awards include 1st Place ($1,000 and a solo show in summer of the following year), 2nd Place ($500), 3rd Place ($250), four Honorable Mentions ($100 each), and People's Choice Award ($100). The juror is Teri Thoman, a printmaker with four decades of experience in printmaking and art education. Deadline to enter is June 28, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. CDT. Artist notification is July 2-3, 2022. Hand delivery of accepted work to the gallery is required by 5:00 p.m. on July 11, 2022. Artists who are accepted must sit the gallery for a half day during the exhibit, or coordinate an acceptable substitution with the curator.
