Fresh Ideas 2021

The Visual Art League (VAL) of Lewisville, Texas announces Fresh Ideas 2021, a juried exhibition to be held at the Lewisville Grand Theater Main Art Gallery from July 17 - August 14, 2021. The show is open to all visual artists 18 years and older who reside in Texas. Entry fees are $75 for non-members (which includes one year's VAL membership) and $40 for VAL members. Artists may submit up to 3 pieces for consideration.

Accepted mediums include oil, watercolor, acrylics, pastel, mixed media, collage, altered books, assemblage, drawings, prints, photography, ceramics, glass, textiles, fiber, encaustic, jewelry, and sculpture. Original artwork must have been created in the last two years and not previously shown in any VAL exhibits. Maximum size for hung artwork is 60x60 inches including frame. The gallery is family-friendly, so no explicit nudity, confrontationally political, or disrespectful religious images are allowed. Juror John Cook is a Texas artist and educator known for impressionist paintings and has received numerous awards including the International Portrait Society of America's Top 27 Award of Excellence.

Awards include 1st Place ($1,000 and a solo show), 2nd Place ($500), 3rd Place ($250), four Honorable Mentions ($100 each), and a People's Choice Award ($100). Artist notification is July 3-4, 2021. Accepted artwork must be hand-delivered to the Lewisville Grand Theater by 5:00 pm on July 13, 2021. The gallery does not accept shipped artworks. An opening reception is scheduled for July 17, 2021 (pending COVID restrictions). Artists are required to sit the gallery for one half day during the exhibit, with substitutions coordinated for artists outside the immediate area. Artwork pickup is August 16, 2021.
