Fresh Ideas 2019

The Visual Art League of Lewisville (VAL) announces a call for entries for the Fresh Ideas 2019 juried exhibition to be held at the Medical City of Lewisville Grand Theater art gallery from July 20th through August 24th, 2019. Fresh Ideas 2019 is VAL's prestigious juried exhibition of new artworks representing current trends in art. The exhibition is open to all visual artists who reside in Texas.

Entry fees are $75 for non-members (includes one year VAL membership) and $40 for VAL members. Artists may submit up to three pieces of original 2D and 3D artwork created within the last two years that have not previously been shown in any VAL exhibit. Accepted media include oil, watercolors, acrylics, pastel, mixed media, collage, drawing, prints, photography, ceramics, textiles, fiber, encaustic, jewelry, and sculpture. Maximum size for 2D pieces is 60" x 60" including frame. All 3D artwork must fit on a pedestal no larger than 20" x 14" or on the floor. Works must be framed and ready for installation, with proper hanging hardware (d-rings and wire). Plexiglas must be used instead of glass for pieces larger than 16" x 20". Hung pieces may not exceed 50 lbs. Gallery-wrapped canvas must have depth greater than 1" with finished edges. Photographs must be matted and framed or gallery wrapped. No nudity is permitted.

Awards include: 1st Place $1,000 and a solo show in summer 2020; 2nd Place $500; 3rd Place $250; four Honorable Mentions $100 each; two Richeson Gift Certificate Awards $100 each; and People's Choice Award $100. Judging occurs June 26-27, with artist notifications on July 6th. Accepted entries must be hand-delivered to Medical City of Lewisville Theater, 100 North Charles St., Lewisville TX 75057 between 1:00-5:00 pm on Tuesday, July 16th. Opening reception is Saturday, July 20th at 7:00-9:00 pm with award ceremony at 8:00 pm. The exhibition closes August 24th. Entry pickup is Monday, August 26th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Accepted artists are required to sit the gallery for one half day during the exhibit. The juror is Juliette McCullough.
