Fresh Ideas 2018

The Visual Art League of Lewisville (VAL) announces a call for entries for the Fresh Ideas 2018 juried exhibition to be held at the Medical City of Lewisville Grand Theater art gallery in Lewisville, Texas from August 4th through September 8th, 2018. Fresh Ideas 2018 is VAL's prestigious juried exhibition of new artworks representing current trends in modern art. The exhibition is open to all visual artists who reside in Texas.

Eligible media includes original 2D and 3D artwork (oil, watercolors, acrylics, pastel, mixed media, collage, drawing, prints, photography, ceramics, textiles, fiber, encaustic, jewelry and sculpture) created in the last two years that has not previously been shown in any VAL exhibit. Artists may submit up to three pieces for consideration. Maximum size for 2D pieces is 60" x 60" including the frame. All 3D artwork must be able to sit on a pedestal no larger than 20" x 14" or on the floor. Entry fee is $70 for non-members (includes one year VAL membership) and $35 for VAL members. Submissions must be made via Callforentry.org.

Awards include: 1st Place $800 and a solo show in summer 2019 at MCL Grand art gallery; 2nd Place $400; 3rd Place $250; Four Honorable Mentions $100 each; and People's Choice Award $100. The deadline for entries is July 25th, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified of acceptance on July 28th. Accepted entries must be hand delivered to Medical City of Lewisville Theater, 100 North Charles Street, Lewisville TX 75057 on July 31st between 1:00-5:00 pm. The opening reception is August 4th at 7:00-9:00 pm with the award ceremony at 8:00 pm. Entries may be picked up September 11th from 1:00-3:00 pm. Works are not insured while on display. Exhibiting artists agree that MCL Grand receives a 10% commission and VAL receives 10% on all sales made during the show.
