FREEDOM REFRAMED

Collage Artists of America Members Only Exhibit: "FREEDOM REFRAMED" is a juried in-person and online show. The theme invites artists to reframe situations by looking at them from different perspectives, which can refer to personal trials and tribulations, liberation, world events, professional settings, or artistic expression.

The exhibition runs May 2-21, 2026 at the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center, 1100 West Clark Avenue, Burbank, CA 91506. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2026, 7:00-9:00 p.m., with awards announced at 8:00 p.m. Accepted entries and winners will also be hosted online on the CAA website and OnlineJuriedShows website. Accepted artists may choose to be shown online only. Juror Shannon Currie Holmes is a curator, arts administrator, and creative director with over 20 years of experience producing exhibitions and developing strategic partnerships across Southern California.

Acceptable media includes collage (flat or very low relief), mixed media collage (moderate relief with collage elements), assemblage (highly dimensional), and digital collage (combination of multiple images; AI is not acceptable). Entry deadline is Friday, March 20, 2026, 11:59 PM PST. Acceptance notification is Monday, March 30, 2026. Shipped work is due by Friday, April 24, 2026. Take-down and artwork pickup is Saturday, May 23, 2026, 9:00 a.m.-12 noon. Shipped artwork will be returned by June 9, 2026.

Only current CAA members in good standing may enter. Membership costs $55. Entry fees are $35 for one work, $5 each for up to 3 additional entries. Maximum of two pieces accepted per artist. Awards total $1,200: First Place $500, Second Place $300, Third Place $200, Carolann Watterson Award $100, plus four Honorary Mentions at $25 each. Digital images must be submitted in JPEG format, under 4 MB, at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Maximum weight for wall-hung work is 25 lbs.; for pedestal pieces, 45 lbs. All framing must be gallery quality and professional. Wall-hung artwork must be wired with screw eyes or D-rings. Shipped artwork must be in reusable containers with high-quality packing material (no packing peanuts) and include prepaid return shipping label and $25 per box handling fee.
