Framed: Trees and Water

Black Box Gallery is hosting a juried group photography exhibition on the theme of Trees and Water. The exhibition will feature contemporary photography exploring both subjects in dynamic and diverse ways. Water may include oceans, rivers, pools, fountains, rain, mist, fog, lakes, snow, and waves. Trees serve as powerful subjects of composition, providing strong visual foundations for exploring space and time. The gallery invites photographers to explore their technique and ideas within this theme.

Submission Requirements: Photographers may submit 1-5 images. Entry fee is $40. The deadline is April 8, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. The exhibition will run May 1-20, 2022. The juror is Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has 25 years of experience in arts education and curation.

Selection and Exhibition: The juror will select 24 photographs for exhibition at the gallery and an additional 30 photographs for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all selected work. Prints will be kept in a flat file after the show for future promotion and sale. Photographers will be notified 7-10 days after the deadline. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing will occur without prior consent. Artists may choose for their print to be for exhibition and promotion only, without being offered for sale.
