Framed: Trees and Water

Black Box Gallery is hosting a juried group photography exhibition on Trees and Water. The exhibition will feature contemporary photography exploring both subjects in a dynamic and diverse presentation. Water can include oceans, rivers, pools, fountains, rain, mist, fog, lakes, snow, and waves. Trees serve as powerful subjects of composition, providing strong visual foundations for exploring space and time. The exhibition seeks to showcase the powerful visual language of contemporary photographers documenting these subjects.

The juror is Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has 25 years of experience in arts education and curation. Entry deadline is September 16, 2025, with exhibition dates October 1-25, 2025. The entry fee is $40.00. Photographers may submit 1-5 images. International photographers are eligible.

Black Box Gallery will provide free printing, matting, and framing for selected work. The gallery will select 26 photographs for physical exhibition and an additional 50 for their online gallery annex. All 76 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. Prints are created using an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Exhibition prints will be retained in flat files after the show for future promotion and sales. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sales or printing will occur without prior consent.
