About This Call

Fractured Horizons is a multidisciplinary art exhibition featured in NYCxDESIGN's Spotlight program that explores the relationship between industrial legacy and posthuman futures. The exhibition examines three themes: Legacy and Rupture (impacts of industrialization on man-made landscapes), Horizons of the Posthuman City (spaces shaped by technology and ecology), and Fractured Narratives (tensions between industrial pasts and speculative futures). The exhibition takes place at PI Art Center Gallery in Manhattan from May 16-23, 2025.

Artists can submit up to 4 images or 1 video per series, with work not exceeding 100 cm x 100 cm for two-dimensional pieces, 50 cm x 50 cm x 50 cm for three-dimensional works, or 1920 x 1080 pixels for video. Accepted formats include JPEG, PDF, and MP4. The $30 submission fee is non-refundable. Artists must provide a personal biography (maximum 200 words) and artwork description (maximum 200 words) explaining how their work connects to the exhibition theme.

Selected artists receive multiple benefits including exhibition at the NYC x Design Festival Spotlight, featuring on Artsy (the largest global art collector community), promotion through over 200 global media outlets, potential publication in magazines and books, a free online profile page on the Biafarin platform, and a digital certificate of participation. Up to 3 artworks will receive Honorable Mention awards of $500 each. Exhibition links and artist pages remain active indefinitely. Selected artists also receive priority invitation to the 2025 Joint Exhibition at the University of Pennsylvania Museum. This opportunity is open to all visual artists worldwide, including painting, illustration, photography, video, sound art, digital and new media art, AR/VR, sculpture, crafts, decorative arts, jewelry, book arts, fiber arts, textile arts, and paper art.
