About This Call
Foundation for Contemporary Arts (FCA) offers Emergency Grants: Cancellation Funds to address the financial impact of cancelled public presentations stemming from sudden losses of federal funding. With support from Jerome Foundation, these grants are available to experimental artists with previously confirmed public presentations including exhibitions, readings, and performances. Cancellation funds aim to mitigate the loss of financial commitments and outlays made prior to cancellation. Grants are accepted on a rolling basis and distributed monthly in amounts up to $3,000.
Eligible applicants are individual experimental artists or artists representing collectives, ensembles, or groups working in dance, music/sound, performance art/theater, poetry, and/or visual arts. Applicants must have a U.S. Tax ID Number (SSN, EIN, ITIN, or other). Artists enrolled in any degree-granting program, curators, producers, organizations, or presenting venues are not eligible. The three-year waiting period between Emergency Grants does not apply to this program. Cancelled public presentations must have confirmation, cancellation, and intended presentation dates with documentation confirming the cancellation, and the cancellation must result from federal government funding cuts, freezes, or reallocations.
Grants may be applied toward direct project expenses incurred between confirmation and cancellation, including materials, equipment, production costs, rehearsal fees, collaborator fees, artist fees, honoraria, and commission fees that were promised and won't be paid. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with panels awarding grants once per month. Due to the sensitive nature of these grants, Cancellation Fund recipients will not be listed on the organization's website or social media. For questions, contact [email protected].
