About This Call

Foto(grafía) 2024 is an open theme photography competition presented during Art Week CDMX in February 2024. Photographers must be at least 18 years old. All genres, photography formats, and print mediums are acceptable. Entries will be selected based on technical application, originality, and concept. Finalists will be invited to exhibit their work at Art Gallery Studios in Mexico City, located in Colonia Centro in the heart of the city's cultural zone.

Entry fee is $45 for 5 images, with additional images available at $5 per image (maximum 20 images total). Submissions must include 5-20 images. Art Gallery Studios will handle printing and framing through CYAN LAB in Mexico City at professional quality and reduced cost, eliminating shipping expenses for international artists. Selected artists will be notified by January 12, with image file deadlines on January 20. The exhibition opens February 8 and closes March 3.

A selection of artists will be featured in The Bureau of Queer Art, Art Gallery Studios's social media, podcast, and print magazine exploring representation and identity in contemporary art. Exhibited photographers will receive a PDF version of the print magazine and have the option to order a print edition. The gallery retains a 50% commission on all exhibition sales. Sales remittances are paid within 60 days after the exhibition closes and receipt of full payment from buyers. The competition is curated by Micheal Swank, whose contemporary program focuses on artists within the LGBTQ+ and allied community.
