About This Call
Fort Worth Public Art seeks to license 14 different high-resolution images of artwork by local artists for 14 traffic signal control cabinets on East Lancaster Avenue. Artists are invited to submit a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 original images. Artists will be paid a $500 license fee for each image selected. Images will be printed on vinyl and adhered to a traffic control cabinet on East Lancaster Avenue for up to 5 years.
The City of Fort Worth seeks original artwork related to one or more of the following themes: Transportation (bus, pedestrian, bicycle, train, airplane); Library (reading, research, education); History of Fort Worth's East Side, including Route 66, Bankhead Highway, landmarks, music halls; Schools on Fort Worth's East Side; Recreation; and Environmental Stewardship. Images that convey energy through bright colors and motion are highly encouraged. The composition of images should be of an appropriate scale and level of detail to be comprehended by both pedestrians and motorists. Selected images may be cropped and/or reformatted to fit the dimensions of the traffic control cabinets, which are typically 30.25" in height x 24.25" in length x 58.25" in width.
Submissions must be two-dimensional and in digital format: 72 ppi/dpi resolution, no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, in .jpeg file format only. Artists must submit an artist statement (no more than one page), up to eight different images, and a description of each image including artwork title, date, medium, and dimensions of the original artwork. The selection panel consists of arts and design professionals and community representatives and will review submissions based on artistic quality and creativity, how well the artist has utilized the community-selected themes, and overall visual impact. This call is open to all artists working in any media, at least eighteen years of age, who reside in Tarrant County, Texas. No previous public art experience is required.
