About This Call
The City of Fort Pierce and the Peacock Arts District (PAD) Redevelopment Agency invite qualified muralists to apply for a public art commission to install murals within the PAD and downtown. The purpose of the program is to promote and commemorate Fort Pierce's rich cultural heritage, reinforce the growth of arts and culture within the city, and increase tourism and economic development to the FPRA area. The project strives for diversity of style, scale, and media represented in a series of murals on buildings within the PAD.
Murals will be installed on private and publicly owned property in partnership with their respective owners. Four properties are available for mural installations: 526 Ave. A Property, 717 Orange Ave. Property, 117 N. 5th Street Property, and Indian River Drive Wall Property (County Rd. 707). Applicants can apply for more than one property and can submit up to two digital designs for the mural proposal. Designs should be depicted on the wall space of choice to help with understanding what it will look like in actuality.
Artists must have experience in creating exterior murals. Applicants are eligible nationally. Up to four applications are allowed per artist. Work sample requirements: submit 1-2 images. The project budget is $50,000+.
