Form, Not Function: Quilt Art Biennial

Form, Not Function: Quilt Art Biennial is a biennial juried exhibition of contemporary quilt art held at the Floyd County Carnegie Library Cultural Arts Center in New Albany, Indiana. The 2025 exhibition will be on view January 16 – April 12, 2025, with an opening reception on January 16, 2025.

All works must be quilted (two or more distinct layers held together with stitches). The layers may include fiber and textile materials, but other techniques and mediums are acceptable as long as the work is quilted as defined. Works must be original and completed since January 1, 2020. The exhibit is open to artists age 18 or older living in the United States, including U.S. military bases and U.S. territories. Collaborative works are eligible. Works must be ready to hang on the wall, including the hanging rod. Three-dimensional works are eligible but must be ready to exhibit on the floor, on a pedestal, or include hardware for wall display. There is no minimum or maximum size.

Entry fee is $35.00 for up to three works (represented by up to 6 images or videos). Submit two digital images per work: one full view showing all edges and one detail view showing stitching and details. Include title, media, dimensions, and price with each image. Also submit a completed application, artist statement, and biography (each 3,000 characters maximum). Entry deadline is November 16, 2024 at 11:59:59 PM Mountain Time. Artists will be notified of acceptance on December 3, 2024. Accepted works must be received by December 28, 2024. Accepted artists will be eligible for cash awards, including a $1,000 Best of Show award. No more than one work by an artist will be selected. The exhibition is juried by a rotating panel of fiber artists and experts who consider originality, design, technique, and craftsmanship.
