About This Call

Forecast Public Art's grants support Minnesota-based emerging and mid-career artists seeking to expand their practice in the field of public art. The grants encourage risk-taking, interdisciplinary approaches, career development and collaborative problem-solving. Applicants will be informed of award decisions in mid-December 2015, and the grant period will run January 1 - November 30, 2016.

Three grant opportunities are available: Emerging Artist Research & Development Grant ($2,500) supports emerging artists in public art-related research and development or planning phases of freely accessible public art installations or activities in Minnesota. Emerging Artist Project Grant ($8,000) supports the creation of temporary or permanent public artwork anywhere in Minnesota by emerging artists, funded through the Jerome Foundation's Visual Arts category. Mid-Career Professional Development Grant ($5,000) supports mid-career artists seeking to expand their careers in public art through residencies, apprenticeships, conferences, travel, study, skill development, or creation of project models or prototypes.

Eligibility requirements: Applicants must be Minnesota residents who have physically lived in the state for 12 of the past 24 months and remain residents throughout the project period. Artists must be in the appropriate career stage for the grant applied for. An artist may apply for only one opportunity per grant cycle. The project must be original and not duplicate previous work. No ticket sales or fees may be charged; all events and installations must be freely accessible. Organizations, full-time students, and Forecast Public Art staff, Board, and Committee members are not eligible. Application deadline: October 6, 2015, 11:59 p.m. MDT.
