Forces of Nature

Forces of Nature is an online juried exhibition open to all 2D media (excluding photography and digital art). The theme invites artists to explore how nature, especially its powerful forces such as storms and waves, influences their work. Interpretations can be literal or abstract.

Eligibility requirements include: work must not have been exhibited in a previous Rhode Island Watercolor Society juried show; work must have been completed within the last 10 years; work may not be copied from copyrighted material or created under the direct guidance of another artist or from tutorials; work may be created in a class or workshop using only the artist's own reference material. Acceptable mediums include watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oils, ink, casein, egg tempera, and other 2D media on any 2D surface. There is no size limit. Work may be listed as not for sale (NFS) by contacting the gallery at [email protected].

Submit 1-3 images at $15 per image for non-members or $10 per image for members. The exhibition runs August 17 - September 20, with an online opening reception on Thursday, August 22 at 6pm via Zoom. Acceptance notifications will be sent August 16. The juror is Susan Aitcheson. Over $300 in cash prizes will be awarded. If work is sold through the online gallery, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society receives 35% of the sale.
