For the Love of the Sea, Inspired by Frank Cuprien

Laguna Plein Air Painters Association presents "For the Love of the Sea," a juried art show inspired by Frank Cuprien, presented in collaboration with the Laguna Art Museum's exhibition titled "Frank Cuprien: For the Love of the Sea."

This exhibition is open to all LPAPA Signature, Artist, and Student Members in good standing. At the time of acceptance, membership must be current through May 2026. Artwork must be original, painted within the last year, and not previously shown in a LPAPA Gallery show. All subject matters inspired by Frank Cuprien's love of the sea are eligible; all painting mediums created in plein air or in studio are accepted. Digital artwork will not be accepted. Artwork must be signed by the artist. Unframed artwork must be between 14 and 72 united inches (Length + Width). All accepted work must be professionally framed, wired, and ready to hang.

Submissions open November 2025 with a deadline of Monday, March 2, 2026 (before midnight). Entry fee is $40 for up to 2 painting images; each additional image is $5. Artists may submit up to 6 painting images maximum, with no more than 3 entries per artist accepted as Finalist and/or Semi-Finalist. JPEG images must be under 4 MB in sRGB colorspace, at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Notifications will be sent by Monday, March 9, 2026. The online art catalog launches March 30, 2026. An online auction runs March 30 (10 AM PST) through April 2 (8 PM PST). The gallery exhibition runs April 2 through May 4, 2026, with an Art Walk Reception on April 2 (6 PM-9 PM) and awards announcement at 7 PM. Drop-off deadline is Tuesday, March 31st by 1 PM. Shipped work should arrive by Friday, March 27th. Pickup of unsold work is Tuesday, May 5, 2026 (10 AM-1 PM). Awards include 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $200, and Honorable Mention $100. Sales commission is 50% to artist, 50% to LPAPA.
