About This Call
Food Story is a dual exhibition and publication opportunity to explore artistic interpretations of food. The competition invites artists to submit work inspired by food in relation to family and friends gatherings, healthy foods, fast food culture, religious foods, fasting, diets, natural foods and drinks, food journeys, chefs, kitchens, food and drink tasting, cooking, food serving, restaurants, street foods, and traditional and cultural foods. Artists are encouraged to create work that raises awareness of food appreciation, the importance of feeding people, and stopping nutrition resource waste. Both abstract and representational artists are welcome to submit.
Selected artworks will be showcased in an online group exhibition from August 3 to October 3, 2024. Selected works will be published in The Book of Arts: Food Story, available in free online and paid print formats, and promoted internationally through popular publication gateways. Artworks will also be featured in an online exhibition catalogue and promoted for sales through the online exhibition link. Selected artists receive a digital certificate, online profile page on the Biafarin platform, exhibition poster link, promotional badges, artwork reviews from visitors, and regular reports with analytics and engagement statistics. Some selected artists may be chosen for publication in art magazines and books on the Biafarin network.
Submission is free. Up to 6 artworks may be submitted, with a maximum of 2 artworks accepted per artist. If selected, a USD 40 selection fee applies. A money-back guarantee is available for selection fee payments until the exhibition's official opening day. The jury process uses a two-phase system: first phase is Yes/No selection, and the second phase uses a scoring model where each jury member scores artworks from 1 to 5, with the highest-scoring artworks in the "Yes" group selected.
