Follow the Light

Follow the Light is an online juried exhibition open to all artists in the United States working in 2D media. The theme explores how light impacts artwork composition and draws the viewer's eye. Light is an extremely important part of any painting, and the exhibition seeks interpretations of artwork that exemplify this theme.

Submit 1-3 images of work completed within the last 10 years. Acceptable mediums include watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oils, ink, casein, egg tempera, and other 2D media (excluding photography, digital art, and reproductions). Work must not have been previously exhibited in a Rhode Island Watercolor Society juried show, copied from copyrighted material, or created under the direct guidance of another or by following a tutorial. Work may have been done in a class or workshop using only the artist's own reference material. Submission fee is $15 per image for non-members, $10 per image for members. Entry deadline is October 6, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Jury dates are October 7-13, 2023. Notification of acceptance is October 13th.

The exhibition runs online from October 14 through November 17, 2023, with an online opening reception on Friday, October 20th at 6pm on Zoom. Over $400 in cash prizes will be awarded. Juror is Valerie Albert Weingard. If work is sold through the online gallery, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society receives 35% of the sale.
