Focus: Trees and Water

Black Box Gallery is hosting a juried group photography exhibition on the theme of Trees and Water. The exhibition will feature contemporary photography exploring both subjects in a dynamic and diverse presentation. Water may include oceans, rivers, pools, fountains, rain, mist, fog, lakes, snow, and waves. Trees serve as powerful subjects of composition, providing strong visual foundations for exploring space and time. The gallery invites photographers to explore their technique and ideas within this theme.

Deadline for entry is April 13, 2023. Exhibition dates are May 1-20, 2023. The juror is Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has 25 years of experience in arts education and curation. Entry fee is $40. Photographers may submit 1-5 images. The gallery is open to all photographers internationally.

Twenty-four photographs will be selected for exhibition at the gallery, and an additional 30 photographs will be selected for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions using archival inkjet printing on premium luster photo paper. Exhibition prints will be kept in flat files after the show for future promotion and sale. The gallery takes a 50% commission on sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing will occur without prior consent.
