Focus: Trees and Water

Black Box Gallery is hosting a juried group photography exhibition on Trees and Water. The exhibition will feature contemporary photography exploring both subjects in a dynamic and diverse presentation. Water can be an ocean, river, pool, fountain, rain, mist, fog, lakes, snow, or waves. Trees serve as powerful subjects of composition, providing strong visual foundations for exploring space and time. The gallery invites photographers to explore their technique and ideas within these themes.

Deadline for entry is April 11, 2025. Exhibition dates are May 1-25, 2025. The juror is Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has 25 years of experience in arts education and curation. Entry fee is $40. Photographers may submit 1-5 images. The gallery will select 26 photographs for physical exhibition and an additional 50 for the online gallery annex. All 76 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.

Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all selected work. Prints are produced on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Exhibition prints are 18" x 24" in black frames with white mats pre-cut for 12" x 18", 12" x 12", and 12" x 16" prints. After the exhibition, prints are kept in flat files for future promotion and sales. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sales or printing occur without prior consent. Prints are not sold but used for exhibition and promotion only, unless the artist prefers otherwise.
