About This Call
Focus on Figures is an annual celebration of the art of the figure. This open show invites all artists to submit work in any medium to be exhibited in the historic GAR Hall in Marshfield Hills. The exhibition runs April 11–30, 2026. A series of events including a two-day workshop, a drop-in figure session, and a portrait demonstration are scheduled during the run of the exhibit.
Entry fees are $25 for the first entry and $10 for each additional entry, with a maximum of 5 submissions (up to 2 per artist accepted). Membership is not required. All forms of artwork are allowed, provided the work is originally created by the artist and has not been previously exhibited in a North River Arts exhibition (work from satellite galleries is allowed). No size restrictions apply, though artists with very oversized or heavy pieces should contact the organization before submitting. All 2D work must be framed or gallery wrapped with finished edges and wired for hanging; no saw tooth hangers are permitted. Work does not need to be for sale.
Awards include Best in Show ($250 plus ribbon), Second Place (ribbon and $100 gift card to NRAS), Third Place (ribbon), and five Honorable Mentions (ribbon). The judge of selection is Corey Pitkin. Work may be sold; members are charged a 30% commission and non-members 50%. Payment to artists will be within 30 days of exhibition closing. A workshop with Corey Pitkin is scheduled for April 11–12, 9am–4pm. Notifications will be emailed by March 3, 2026. Contact Julia Driscoll at [email protected] for questions about the prospectus, eligibility, artwork requirements, or logistics.
