Focus: Fiber 2019

Focus: Fiber 2019 is a biennial national juried exhibition of contemporary fiber art co-sponsored by the Textile Art Alliance of the Cleveland Museum of Art and Kent State University Museum. The exhibition will be held at Kent State University Museum, Stager and Blum Galleries in Kent, Ohio from March 1, 2019 to July 28, 2019.

Eligibility: Artists living in the U.S.A. may submit up to three entries. All work must be either fiber in content or executed in a fiber technique. Work must be completed after January 2015 and have a maximum size of 7 feet height by 9 feet width. Individual and collaborative works are invited; artists submitting both types must apply separately. Artwork must be an original design/concept not created in a class or workshop. Student work is accepted if created outside the classroom and without instructor guidance. Entry fee is $45.00 for non-members and $35.00 for TAA members. Submissions require 2-9 digital images on a neutral background with accurate color representation.

Juror: Nami Yamamoto, an interdisciplinary artist based in Philadelphia, PA, recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Grant Award and Pew Fellowship in the Arts. Accepted artwork must remain for the duration of the exhibition. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and transit insurance. Kent State University Museum will insure work for 60% of its fair market value while in its care. A full-color exhibition catalog will be produced. Notification of jury results will be sent January 4, 2019, with artwork due February 1, 2019.
