About This Call

Focus: Fiber 2016 is a national contemporary fiber art exhibition presented by the Textile Art Alliance of the Cleveland Museum of Art and Kent State University Museum. The exhibition runs February 12, 2016 – July 3, 2016 at Kent State University Museum, Stager and Blum Galleries, Kent, Ohio. Juror Jane Sauer will select works for the exhibition. Over $2,000 in awards and prizes will be awarded.

Eligibility is open to all artists who live in the U.S.A. All work must be either fiber in content or executed in a fiber technique. Innovative two- and three-dimensional fiber art is encouraged. Individual and collaborative entries are invited. Each entry must be an original work completed after June 2013. Work produced in a classroom or under instruction is not eligible. Up to three works may be entered per artist. The entry fee is $35 for TAA members and $45 for non-members. Entries must be submitted online at www.callforentry.org by August 30, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time Zone. Submissions require 2-6 high-quality JPEG images (up to 5MB, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72ppi/dpi resolution) on a neutral background, including one full front view and one close-up detail view. For three-dimensional work, include one additional view.

Artists whose work is selected will be notified by October 8, 2015. The acceptance package must be returned by November 15, 2015. Accepted works are due at the museum January 5-15, 2016. Work must remain for the duration of the exhibition and be ready for installation with appropriate hanging devices. The Kent State University Museum will insure accepted work for 60% of its fair market value. Shipping costs to and from Kent are the artist's responsibility. A full-color exhibition catalog will be produced. Sales are handled privately by the artist. For exhibition information, contact Mary Ann Tipple at 440-327-8087 or [email protected].
