About This Call
The Floyd Center for the Arts, located in Floyd, Virginia, invites visual media artists to submit work for this juried exhibition. The nonprofit community arts center is housed in a renovated dairy barn and promotes the area's artistic movement through exhibitions and events. This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older. Work must be original and executed within the past two years. Video, audio, and performing works are not accepted.
Accepted media includes painting, sculpture, graphics, ceramics, textiles, mixed media, photography, time-based/new media, and installation. Artists may submit up to three artworks. The entry fee is $35 (or $25 for current members with coupon code JAX21). Submitted digital images should represent the quality and nature of the work; artists must submit an image showing the artwork in its entirety, and may submit a secondary detailed image. For 3D works, up to three images per work may be submitted, for a total of up to nine images across the three artworks.
The juror is watercolorist Z.L. Feng, a Professor of Art at Radford University and signature member of the American Watercolor Society and National Watercolor Society. Prizes include $500 first place, $300 second place, $100 third place, five honorable mentions, and a $50 post-exhibit people's choice award. The exhibition runs August 14 through October 2, 2021, with an opening reception on Saturday, August 14, 5-7 pm. Shipped work must arrive between August 2-6, 2021, or in-person drop-off is available August 6 and August 9, 11 am-3 pm. Work pickup is October 4-5, 2021, 11 am-3 pm. Artists must provide return shipping labels.
