About This Call
Flowing & Flying is a national juried exhibition of artworks featuring waterscapes such as the ocean, lakes, ponds, rivers, wetlands, and swamps, and/or the birds that inhabit them. Artworks may depict just a waterscape, just a waterbird, or both in the same work. This is an in-person exhibition that will also be featured digitally on d'Art Center's archive site.
The exhibition is juried by Gallery Director Amanda Bradley and Exhibition Juror Terry Wylie, a fine art artist from San Antonio, Texas who primarily works in watercolor and currently resides in Norfolk, VA. He is the President of Chesapeake Bay Watercolorists and Vice President of the Virginia Water Color Society.
Entry fee is $35 for 3 submissions (one image per artwork submission). Each additional submission over 3 is $5, with a maximum of 10 works that can be submitted. Minimum image submission requirement is 3 images; artists may submit 3 different works, detail images, or the same image 3 times. Work must be hang or pedestal ready, no longer than 60 inches in its longest dimension, and weigh no more than 50 pounds. All work must be presentation ready with finished edges, hanging wire or cleat for 2D work, and appropriate presentation materials for 3D work.
Exhibition dates are Saturday, August 3rd through Saturday, August 31st, 2024. Reception is Thursday, August 8th, 2024, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Notifications will be sent by email by 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024. Accepted works must arrive by 5 p.m. Saturday, July 27th, 2024. Hand deliveries are accepted by pre-arrangement. Work can be picked up beginning Wednesday, September 4th. Awards: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $150. Gallery commission on sales is 60/40 (60% artist, 40% d'Art Center). Artist is responsible for shipping costs. Works must include pre-paid return labels through FedEx or UPS. Works packaged with packing peanuts will be returned immediately and not included in the exhibition.
