About This Call

Flowing & Flying is an exhibition of artworks featuring waterscapes such as the ocean, lakes, ponds, rivers, wetlands, and swamps, and/or the birds that inhabit them. Artworks may depict just a waterscape, just a waterbird, or both in the same work. This is an in-person exhibition at d'Art Center's Main Gallery in Norfolk, Virginia, with work also featured digitally on d'Art Center's archive site. The exhibition runs Saturday, August 9th through Saturday, September 6th, 2025, with an opening reception on Thursday, August 14th from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Eligibility is open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without the aid of an instructor or kit, and produced within the last eight years. Works cannot exceed 50 pounds or be longer than 60 inches in their longest dimension (size and weight restrictions may be waived by contacting the Gallery Manager). Work must be hang or pedestal ready. No AI-generated images. The entry fee is $35 for 3 submissions; each additional submission up to 10 total is $5. A $5 media fee applies. Artists must submit 3-10 images. Work must arrive by 5 p.m. Saturday, August 2nd, 2025. Notifications will be sent by email by 5 p.m. Monday, June 23rd, 2025.

Awards: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $150. The d'Art Center takes a 60/40 commission on sales (60% artist, 40% d'Art Center). The exhibition is co-curated by d'Art Center Gallery Director Amanda Bradley and juror Sue Mangan. All entries must be submitted via Call for Entries (Cafe). The artist is responsible for shipping costs. Works must include pre-paid return labels through UPS or FedEx.
