About This Call
Flourish is an exhibition of floral and botanical artworks from across the country, open to all functional and non-functional works in 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums and styles. Work must depict flowers and/or plants as the focal point, though other objects may be included. The d'Art Center is partnering with the Historic Garden Club of Norfolk during Historic Garden Week. The opening reception will take place during the Historic Garden Tour in Norfolk on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 5:30-7:30pm. Local Garden Club Members will select 6 artworks from the exhibition to create flower arrangements inspired by the work, which will be revealed at the reception. The exhibition will be featured both in person and digitally on d'Art Center's archive site.
Eligibility is open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without instructor or kit assistance, and produced within the last eight years. Work must be hang or pedestal ready, with a maximum of 60 inches in its longest dimension and 50 pounds in weight. Size and weight restrictions may be waived by contacting the Gallery Manager prior to submission. All 3D works requiring special presentation must include necessary items, and works requiring complicated installation must be installed by the artist.
Entry fee is $35 for 3 works (one image per submission), with $5 for each additional submission up to a maximum of 10 works. Submissions require 3-10 images. The exhibition runs April 20 - May 20, 2023. The juror is Kay Hofler, a professional artist and member of The Artists Gallery since 1997. Awards include 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), and 3rd Place ($150). The d'Art Center retains a 40% commission on sales. Accepted works must arrive by 5pm Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Artists will be notified by 5pm Monday, March 27, 2023. Work can be picked up beginning Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Shipped work is generally returned by the following Wednesday after the exhibition ends.
