About This Call
FLIGHT is a juried exhibition open to all visual arts media. Artists 14 years or older residing in Michigan may enter. Only original works completed in the last two years and not previously exhibited at LowellArts are eligible. Each artist may submit up to two works in any medium. The entry fee is $30, or $20 for LowellArts Members.
Entries can be images of things that fly, float or soar, or actual works that fly, float, soar, hover, or suspend within the confines of what can feasibly be displayed in a gallery space. All representations of flight or other means of an object being suspended in air will be considered. Entries can depict mechanical or natural means of flying in 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional visual art. Kinetic sculpture and works with moving parts are encouraged. All work must be properly framed and ready for display. Two-dimensional work must have secure hanging wire or D-Rings; exposed glass edges and saw tooth hangers are not allowed. Three-dimensional hanging entries must have adequate hanging hardware. All artwork must fit through a standard door and be easily handled by two people. Detailed installation instructions should be provided if required.
Artists will be notified of acceptance on June 6, 2017. Accepted artwork should be hand-delivered or shipped to LowellArts Gallery at 223 W Main St, Lowell, MI 49331. Drop-off dates are June 8, 9, and 10 from 10am-6pm, and June 12 from 10am-5pm. The exhibition runs June 17 through August 12, 2017, with an artist reception on June 20 from 6-8pm. Accepted artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibit. LowellArts will take a 30% commission on all artwork sold during the exhibition. Artwork may be listed as not for sale. Pickup is available August 15, 16, 17, and 18 from 10am-6pm.
