Five Points Archway Public Art Project

The Pitt County Arts Council, in collaboration with the Civic Arts Committee, invites visual and graphic artists located nationwide to submit proposals for the Five Points Archway Public Art Project. The selected artist will create an original design to be reproduced on five large vinyl banners measuring 120 x 204 inches and installed in archways on the side of Starlight Café located at 104 W. 5th Street in Greenville, NC. The archways face Five Points Plaza, a parking area converted to an events location for popular community events. The design should have an emphasis on community, innovation, and/or culture and should reflect the city's diverse demographics in an inclusive environment.

One artist will be selected and will receive a $2,000 honorarium. The banners will be on display for three years, then rotated thereafter as funding permits. Eligibility is open to visual and graphic artists 18 years or older. Each artist may submit one application with five 120 x 204 inch designs, either as one cohesive design broken into five rectangles or as five different scenes. A low-resolution design of all five panels is required for the proposal; the chosen artist will need to supply a high-resolution, actual-size, vector-based file upon acceptance.

Applications must include a resume (no more than three pages with contact information), a one-page artwork description, and submission designs: one PDF, JPG, or TIFF file at 72dpi minimum showing all five panels, and five individual files at 72dpi minimum showing each panel individually (no larger than 8.5 x 11 inches). All materials must be submitted online at pittcountyarts.org/artists/artist-opportunities/archway-mural by August 28, 2021.
