About This Call
Fitchburg Arts Community is accepting applications for artist certification. Artist certification provides preference for housing when the lottery is drawn on Wednesday, August 7th at 5:30 PM at the Fitchburg Art Museum (185 Elm St, Fitchburg, MA 01420). If you are declined artist certification, you will still be eligible for the lottery.
Applicants must submit the following materials: a letter of interest describing yourself and how you would use FAC space for creative work; a resume documenting creative activity and work over the last three years or more, including exhibitions, performances, publications, employment, contracts, press, and awards; three dated work samples from the last three years (examples include audio files for musicians, photos or film clips for actors); two short letters of reference from artistic peers confirming active artistic pursuits over the past three years; and a completed artist questionnaire with maximum two to three sentence responses to five questions about your artistic pursuits, activity over the last three years, future intentions, recent work examples, and how living in Fitchburg Arts Community would impact your ability to create art.
An optional interview with the selection committee is available but not required and will not negatively impact your application. Final round interviews will be held August 5th through August 12th, conducted primarily via Zoom with exceptions available for those not computer literate. An informational meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 17th at 5:30 PM at Fitchburg City Hall, North Room, third floor (718 Main St, Fitchburg, MA 01420). Applicants must have completed the NewVue pre-application online and been invited via email to apply.
