About This Call
This is a public art commission for a three-dimensional sculpture to be installed adjacent to the main entrance of FIS's new corporate headquarters tower in Jacksonville, Florida. The artwork should focus on specified mediums: metal, painted metal, lighted metal, and/or glass. The sculpture must be appropriate for permanent exterior exhibit and pass hurricane rating once adhered into ground.
Artists will be responsible for proposal development, maquette development (where applicable), final design presentation, coordination with FIS and the City of Jacksonville for permitting, fabrication and installation, lighting consultation as needed, and photographic documentation. The public art budget is $180,000, which includes all costs to the artist: artwork proposals, artwork, mounting materials, shipping/delivery, insurance, travel, and applicable sales tax. The client will provide site preparation and assist with installation as part of the construction process.
The project timeline includes artist selection panel review by March 24, 2022, commissioned artist notification on March 25, 2022, contract execution on March 28, 2022, final design due April 8, 2022, and site preparation and installation June 27-30, 2022. Community engagement site visits will be offered virtually during March 29-31, 2022 and are not mandatory. Eligibility is open to artists over 21 years old who are not students in a formal degree program and have been creating and installing public art for more than three years. International, national, and regional artists are welcome to apply. Applicants must submit an artist statement, resume emphasizing public art experience, a minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 images (up to 2 videos of 120 seconds each) of completed projects, a colorized sketch or computer rendering of the proposed concept design shown from front, back, and side with dimensions included, and a narrative describing the artwork's symbolism, intention, and technical detail.
