First Nations Contemporary Biennial 2018

The Tubac Center of the Arts presents the First Nations Contemporary Biennial, a national juried exhibition of contemporary art created by First Nations/Native American artists. Artists are urged to enter work which is innovative in concept and approach, whether representational or abstract. Any media is eligible. Work must have been completed within the last 36 months and must be the original creation of the artist. Giclee reproductions printed on canvas are not permitted. Work cannot have been previously shown at TCA.

Up to four works may be entered for consideration. Entry fee is $25 ($20 with TCA Member discount), with an additional $3 fee for each additional entry image. All artwork must arrive ready to hang. If framed, work must be suitably matted in white, black or neutral colors, simply framed and firmly wired with no saw tooth hangers. All work must be for sale, and TCA will retain a 40% commission. No artwork may be removed from the exhibit prior to the close of the exhibition on October 21, 2018, including sold art. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from TCA. Unsold work will be shipped back to the artist after the close of the exhibition.

The exhibition runs September 14 - October 21, 2018. The opening reception and awards ceremony is Friday, September 14, 2018, 5:00-7:00 pm. Jury notifications will be sent August 9, 2018. Shipped art is due by September 8-10, 2018, and hand-delivered art is due by September 10, 2018. Art must be picked up by October 22, 2018. Shipped work will be returned the week of October 29, 2018. The juror is Frank Buffalo Hyde (Nez Perce/Onondaga Nation, Beaver Clan). Awards include Best of Show ($500), Award of Excellence ($300), Award of Merit ($250), Juror's Award ($100), and two Honorable Mention awards ($75 each).
