About This Call
The First LaGrange Southeast Regional is a juried competition open to artists in the southeast over 18 years of age from the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. All work must be original and completed within the last two years. The competition traces its roots to the LaGrange National Competition, which began in 1964. Entry fee is $35 for up to 4 works. Submissions must include 1-4 images.
Competition categories are: Paintings, Prints & Drawings, Ceramics & Sculpture, and Decorative Arts & Mixed Media. Paintings, prints and drawings must be framed or have museum finished edges, ready for hanging with wire in place. Works on paper must be matted with white or off-white mats under plastic glazing, not glass. Maximum framed size may not exceed 84 inches in either height or width. Ceramics, sculpture, decorative arts and mixed media should not exceed six feet in any direction or weigh more than 400 pounds. Artwork requiring installation must be delivered and installed by the artist and disassembled and picked up by the artist at the end of the exhibition.
Accepted artists will be notified via email by January 22, 2016. Works must be delivered between January 26 and February 5, 2016. The exhibition opens with an award ceremony and public reception on February 19, 2016 and runs through April 2, 2016 at the LaGrange Art Museum. Purchase Awards will be made and purchased works are added to the permanent collection. The Juror will present Merit Awards to a limited number of works. A color catalog of the exhibition will be sent to all exhibitors. Work will be insured for the duration of the exhibition and storage. All works will be returned in their original shipping materials.
